Navigating Periods with Confidence

Wellbeing is supported through learning and teaching that helps students feel confident, connected and actively engaged in their learning

50% Of ages 12 - 19 find it difficult to pay for sanitary products

A Plan Ireland Study in 2018 found that 50% of girls and people who menstruate between the ages of 12 - 19 find it difficult to pay for sanitary products. 61% have missed school as a result of having their period and 55% were embarrassed by their period.

Period poverty is, increasingly, an internationally recognised public health and societal concern

No woman, girl, intersex, trans or non-binary person who menstruates, should have to exclude themselves from the activities of daily living during menstruation or suffer the physical and mental health impacts resulting from both recurrent exclusion and the use of unsuitable period products.

So what’s the solution?
